Office location: Bucharest, full time, employment contract or collaboration agreement
Purpose of the Role
The Project Manager will coordinate the end-to-end implementation of a new debt collection IT system, ensuring project delivery on time, within the approved budget, and in line with business requirements. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams (Operations, IT, Legal, Finance, Compliance) and with the external software solution provider, as well as regular reporting to Management and the Board.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinates the entire project lifecycle: kick-off, analysis, development, implementation, go-live, and monitoring
- Develops and maintains the project plan (timeline, milestones, resources, dependencies)
- Monitors project progress and manages risks, bottlenecks, and changes
- Follow up project progress and communicate effectively with project team, steering group, and stakeholders.
- Ensures that deliverables meet business requirements and agreed objectives
- Coordinates the collection and documentation of business requirements from all involved departments
- Translates operational requirements into clear and structured functional specifications for the software provider
- Ensures alignment between business needs, technical requirements, and legal/compliance constraints
- Acts as the main point of contact between the company and the software provider
- Coordinates development activities carried out by the provider and monitors adherence to deadlines
- Validates intermediate and final deliverables together with internal stakeholders
- Manages any non-conformities or deviations from the agreed requirements
- Coordinates implementation preparation activities (testing, User Acceptance Testing – UAT, data migration)
- Ensures that users are trained and prepared to use the new system
- Coordinates activities during the go-live period and manages any critical incidents
- Ensures a controlled transition from the old system to the new application
- Monitors application performance during the post-implementation period
- Centralizes user feedback and prioritizes necessary improvements
- Prepares reports, status updates, and presentations for Management and the Board
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Project Manager roles, preferably in IT projects
- Experience in implementing or replacing a complex IT system (CRM, core system, business applications)
- Experience in financial services, debt collection, banking, leasing, NBFI, or similar fields represents a major advantage
- Good understanding of operational workflows within a debt collection business
- Ability to understand and discuss functional and technical requirements with IT vendors
- Experience working with analysis documentation, functional specifications, test plans, and UAT
- Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
- Very good communication and meeting facilitation skills
- Analytical thinking and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels
- Advanced level of English
- Project Management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) represent an advantage
