Job Description – Scrap Buyer

• Lead Scrap Buyer (experienced level) to join the Metallics team in Hunedoara, Romania
• The buyer will be reporting to the Head of Metallics – Region East
• The buyer will have to manage multiple interfaces, both internal and external
• The buyer must be able & willing to travel frequently to the scrapyards in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary etc. to carry out various functions related to scrap quality assurance, quality improvement initiatives, market intelligence, claims handling, follow-up on strategy implementation etc.

Mission and responsibilities

Main mission: Ensure the supply of the requested quantity and quality of steel scrap to the mill of Hunedoara according to the Metallics purchasing strategy

Main activities and responsibility:

• Support the mill in their TCO/VIU approach to define scrap needs
• Assess the scrap market, repartition the needs to different suppliers, negotiate the best terms & conditions, ensure delivery of correct quality
• Collaborate to the monthly strategy elaboration in Hunedoara. Execute the metallics strategy in Hunedoara. Play an active role in aligning all stakeholders to the strategy
• Manage emergencies
• Track and follow up orders and deliveries
• Evaluate suppliers and propose areas for improvement
• Ensure compliance
• Manage the supplier portfolio for his perimeter
• Collaborate with other regional lead buyers to coordinate the buying strategy within EU
• Carry out benchmarking exercises to bring best practices to Hunedoara

Profile

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and effective communication skills
• Rigor, autonomy, results orientation, proactive approach
• Ability and willingness to be on the field to execute the strategy
• Education, BAC+3 minimum. Preferred BAC+5 and studies in STEM
• Strong integrity, high stress-pressure resistance
• Languages:  1. Romanian  2. English
• Advanced knowledge of Office IT tools
• Knowledge and usage of SAP
